Ron L. Bishop Associates

Ron,

This summer on our SRV Residential Tower Project at 300 Spear in San Francisco we had a difficult construction challenge to overcome. The problem was how to safely anchor a Liebherr 316 Tower Crane with 16, two inch diameter high strength steel anchors embedded 8 feet into two and a half inch diameter cored holes with epoxy while achieving 200,000 pound proof loads on each anchor. What epoxy could reach those strengths? How would we deliver the epoxy into the holes without entrapping air which would prevent the rods from reaching to the bottom of the holes?

Thankfully, our Director of Construction Chris Plue had remembered Ron Bishop, a concrete repair and concrete anchor specialist from past experiences. I contacted Mr. Bishop, explained our challenges and requirements, and our need for a fast resolution as the tower crane was critical to our schedule. After one day of research, Mr. Bishop called to say it could be done but needed to build a mock up at his facility to have proof of concept. After successful tests, Mr. Bishop worked through the weekend building necessary hi-flow extra long mixing nozzles that could deliver his Anchor-It HS-200 epoxy without entrapping any air in the material.

Mr. Bishop arrived at the job site, supervised our forces and helped install the necessary 16 anchors. After 24 hours cure time, each anchor was pull tested to 25% of design load, then 50%, then 75% and finally 100% and all passed without difficulty. After the crane base was installed over the 16 anchors another problem was discovered after the anchors were torqued down. A tiny gap was present between the crane base and the shims which would not be allowed in order to get OSHA Certification. Again Mr. Bishop was contacted for assistance. He worked with our Engineer and designed a method and procedure to fill the gap with epoxy grout. For this work, Ron Bishop's Associate Jeff Hughes was present on site and did the injection work and within two days the crane was tested with zero movement and was certified.

We are sincerely grateful to Ron L. Bishop and his Associates for their experience and their help on this project.

Sincerely,

James Romero

Dear Ron,

This letter from our office is to express our appreciation of your professional assistance in the several retrofitting jobs we have consulted with you on. Your assistance in selecting the most efficient product, and in recommending the most suitable procedure to the various retrofit programs; particularly submarine epoxy anchors, repair of spalled concrete and corroding rebars, concrete crack repair, epoxy injection to split wood beams,... came in handy during both the design and construction phases thus leading to successul retrofit work.

We look forward to continuing our professional relationship with you. Please call our office if you have any questions regarding this letter.

Gentlemen:

As the concrete portion of our project nears completion, we wish to take this opportunity to thank you for your product and service over the past year. Our contract for the civil construction of the Airtrain operating System at the San Francisco International Airport called for the extensive use of an epoxy anchoring system. After testing several products, we selected your Anchor-It HS 200 epoxy system. This product was used in over 162,000 holes in both the vertical and horizontal positions to bond both reinforcing bars and threaded rods. The Anchor-It HS 200 met the contract requirements at an economical price and provided a simple application method that could be performed successfully with very little instruction.

Aside from the product's positive performance, we wish to especially thank you for your attentive service over the course of the project. Ron L. Bishop Associates provided a dependable source of product, tools, and state-of-the-art application equipment in a very timely manner. Your personal involvement in ensuring product availability and your experience and willingness to help with special application situations was a welcomed benefit to the project.

We look forward to future business opportunities with your company.

Sincerely,
David Pease

It is a pleasure to honor Ron Bishop's request to write a letter of recommendation regarding our experience with this company. We have done many projects on which Ron has supplied the fastening or epoxy systems or other construction supplies. We have always found his knowledge of the products to be very helpful in selecting the right application for the job, and he has bent over backwards to make the deliveries on time, even if it meant brining them out himself.

One job in particular which we did with Ron L. Bishop Associates was the seismic rehab of a six-story parking structure at San Jose State University. This was a very difficult project which has to be completed in a tight time frame while the students were on vacation. The products that Ron recommended and supplied worked very well, and allowed us to complete the job within the time allowed.

We call on Ron consistently to bid projects where his expertise and supplies are applicable. We find him to be very competitive. If I can provide you with additional information regarding our experience with Ron L. Bishop Associates, please call me.

Sincerely,
